What is Aqualyx?

Aqualyx is a fat dissolving injection that has an aqueous compound solution present also in the human body. The active ingredient deoxycholic acid is used in the emulsification of fats for absorption in the intestine. The naturally occurring acid is perfect for fat dissolving treatments such as intralipotherapy.

Aqualyx offers treatment for people who are looking to lose pockets of fat that are difficult to lose despite improving diet and exercise.

When this fat dissolving injection is injected, it works by liquefying the fat cells, destroying them permanently and releasing the lipids that are then eliminated and drained naturally via the lymphatic system.

Aqualyx is completely biodegradable and biocompatible and has minimal side effects.

How quickly will I see results?

A reduction in fat deposits can usually be seen after just one treatment, however between three and eight sessions are required to see the optimal effect.

Results may vary from person to person and case by age.

Who is the treatment suitable for?

It is suitable for individuals who do not want the more invasive liposuction or laser lipo treatments, who do not have large amounts of fat to remove and who are over 18 years and under 60 years of age. The treatment is not suitable for pregnant or lactating women or those with a pathological condition.

Is the treatment suitable for overweight patients as a weight loss method?

No, Aqualyx® and Aqualysis are aimed at reducing stubborn pockets of fat.

What are the side effects?

Minimal side effects have been reported globally since its introduction, but clients can expect a little skin irritation, bruising and oedema, which will ease after a few days.

How Long Does The Result Last For?

Fat treated by Aqualyx is unlikely to return. The fat will be permanently gone as long as the client keeps a healthy lifestyle and does not gain weight.

What to expect at your appointment?

On your arrival you will be asked to fill out the
consultation form.

Next, one of Beauty HQ team members will clean the area and apply numbing cream – we allow  around 30 minutes for this to work. The cream is wiped off, and a grid-like area will be marked out on the skin with a pen.

Small injections will be administered into the fat layer of the skin. These are generally minimally painful. Up to 10 small doses may be put into the fatty area under the chin. 

The process will take 30 minutes, and you can return to normal activities straight away. If the double chin area is treated, swelling will start almost immediately. You can return to your normal activities once you feel ready, but the area may feel tender for up to 2 weeks. We advise no strenuous exercises for seven days to allow the treatment to settle in.

If you have the double chin treated we would also suggest you pick a time where you can avoid social events for seven days. You can wear a scarf or turtle-neck jump to hide the swelling for until it settles.
